Well here we are practically in April. We have not had the bikes out for a few weeks as the weather here turned really cold. I have just realised there are no pictures of the Fazer showing the complete bike with all the bits added
so HERE are some.

Fingers are well and truly crossed for this weekend!!!

Well the weekend turned out not too bad. We managed to get to Helmsley on Sunday and met up with a few of our friends. The Fazer went into the Dealers Tuesday for it's 4,000ml/6 Month service The bill was £126!!!
The Unofficial Fazer Owners Club are having a meet at Matlock on Easter Sunday but the way the weather is here at the moment it does not look like we will be going unless there is a radical change.

We did not get to the Fazer Club meet at Matlock at the weekend as the weather was not good on the day. I did get to Helmsley again this Sunday but I was quite cold when I arrived. Gwyn followed me up with Jenny and her friend in the car. We stayed a while and the kids paddled!! in the stream. I was cold just watching them!

The new Yamaha Fazer 1000 has arrived at the local dealers so I went for a look. I was NOT impressed with the asking price of over £8,000. I am sure the bike will go like hell and it does not look too bad if you like the "Fazer" look. I am concerned that the fairing is no where near as substantial as the 600. The screen is tiny and I am sure will offer little protection from the wind. I must admit I was not particularly tempted.

Also they had a new XJR1300 I sat on the bike and was instantly impressed. The riding position was sooo comfortable. The bike seemed extremely well balanced and the weight was not particularly noticeable. At nearly £10,000 it is probably well out of my price range.

Also in there was a Kawasaki ZRX1200S. This is a new model for 2001, it is based on the 1100cc version that has proved itself a capable muscle bike for a while now. I saw the bike and really liked the look of it. Strange really as it probably in not the most beutiful bike in the world, with twin shocks and a triangular swinging arm. I was impressed by the fairing which is well laid out inside and the screen is quite wide and high. The riding position puts little or no weight on the wrists.

Power output is 122bhp with loads of midrange grunt (or so it is said). I remember reading a road test of the bike and the tester was really impressed but said this bike will probably be one of the great forgotten bikes. I can see why he said that as there is little information on this bike anywhere.

I took Gwyn to look at it yesterday and to cut a long story short I bought it. I pick it up on Saturday all being well and next week I will add some pages about it.

Not to be left behind and the fact her birthday is approaching I took Gwyn down to our local dealers to look at a Kawasaki GPZ 500S. I nearly bought one of these last year when I bought the ER5 but it had gone when I got there.

I wanted something with some wind protection for Gwyn as the ER5 can be a bit difficult at high speed on a windy day. I remember this from mine. The GPZ will have all the advantages of the ER5 i.e. ease of riding etc. but with a significant amount of wind protection and an extra 10hp.

The dealer did not have a new one in but a 2 year old secondhand example. As the GPZ has not altered in the last 2 years it gave Gwyn an insight into whether or not she liked the model. She did like it and we have ordered a black one. It should arrive in a week to 10 days. When it arrives I will put up pics, specs, thoughts etc.

This weekend is a bank holiday here so I'm hoping for decent weather to get out on the ZXR. It has 400mls on the clock at the moment and it it is booked in for its 600ml service next Thursday. At 500mls I will be able to take it to 6,000rpm which will be around 110mph in top gear. The first 400mls at 4,000rpm has not been bad at all as this equates to about 75mph. My friends have still had trouble keeping up with me on the twisty bits but left me for dead on the big dual carriageways.
