3rd May 2000 Took the Burgam in for its first service this morning, unfortunately it was pouring down with rain again!! Hopefully they will sort out the bad starting and find out what the noise on braking is. I don't hold out much hope but perhaps I am being unkind. |

Well here in the UK two Bank Holiday weekends in a row, most unusual, will we get used to working a full week again! I could not use the Burgman as it had gone over the mileage for the first service and I could not get it booked in with the dealer any earlier. On the May day Monday no rain, so off we went, me on the Majesty and Gwyn on the Honda 125. We went to Knaresbrough where old Mother Shiptons well is, a journey of about 55mls each way. The Majesty is fully run-in now and what struck me most of all was the acceleration. Overtaking between around 40mph - 55mph is brilliant. I would even dare to say as good as the Burgman (although I have not as yet been able to "push" the Burger yet). On a couple of occasions Gwyn and I were separated by traffic and the Majesty made short work of the "tin tops" that got between us. The more I ride the Majesty the more respect I have for it. At one junction a sports bike came up behind us and did not seem impressed I did not pull out when he thought I should and began revving behind me. I pulled out and wound back the throttle on the Majesty and I could hear him thrashing through his gears behind me. It was not untill about 70mph he got the edge and passed me.

All in all it was a beautiful day we "took tea" next to the river Nidd and thanked our lucky stars we were not in the car negotiating the traffic and driving round and round looking for a parking space. I must remember to take the camera with me when we are out!!
