27th April 2000

We have had so much rain here in the last three weeks I have had to "proof" both of the bike covers. They were gradually becoming less and less waterproof and instead of water running off the covers were getting wet and some water was getting through to the bikes.

I started the Majesty up today for the first time in 10 days. I took the cover off touched the starter for a fraction of a second and it burbled into life. Nice one Yamaha!

Well the rain finally eased off for the Easter Weekend and we managed to get out on the Burgman. It has developed a strange squeak at wheel speed. This is not the brakes as it still happens when the brakes are applied. Also the bike is getting more difficult to start when cold. It will not start without throttle as specified in the handbook.

It has 570 miles on the clock now and is booked in for the first service 3/5/00 where I will mention these faults. However, after 500mls I was able to use more throttle (up to 3/4) and found that the acceleration, now I can open it up a bit is, extremely good overtaking is a joy a quick squirt of the throttle and you are gone! Most satisfying!

One thing that has become apparent now I am riding both the Burgman and the Majesty is that there does seem to be better wind protection on the Burgman. I have noticed that when I ride the Majesty there seems to be a draught that feels like it is coming up under my jacket. I cannot feel this when on the Burgman. Whether this is actually wind or turbulance behind the leg shields I am not sure.

I will add info on how the Burgman is after the service.
