Had the new tyre fitted to ZRX at a cost of £123 plus VAT. That was one expensive screw! I did take the bike out for a run before the tyre was fitted and it seemed OK. However, I dare not take the risk of the thing deflating halfway around a corner and bringing me off.

It's a great place to base yourself from to tour the Peak District. I would recommend it for bikers.

We toured around Derbyshire quite a bit and although the mornings were a little dull and overcast the weather did tend to clear in the afternoons.

I took the ZRX up and down Winnats pass a few times which was fun. Winnats is a 20% gradient winding between 2 hills, it has steep rock faces at both sides.

My only problem was that the rock on either side does tend to fall onto the road. I hit a piece about the size of your fist with the front wheel. With the power I had on to climb the hill the front end came well into the air. However she came down again and settled immediately and there was no damage to the front tyre or rim. Going down in 2nd gear with no throttle held the speed quite nicely with no brakes.

The only bit of bad weather we had was on Sunday. We went into Matlock Bath where all the bikers meet and we got caught in a violent thunderstorm. Water got in my boots and through the zip in my trousers - most uncomfortable. There was really no time to put on wet gear and the rain lasted about 15mins. Just long enought to soak us! Jen was on the back of the ZRX but managed to stay comparatively dry.

Of course the bikes were fully caked in mud from the road and had to be thoroughly cleaned.

This picture shows that Gwyn DOES clean her own bike sometimes (not often) Ha!

The only problem with Derbyshire is that there are speed limits EVERYWHERE, they are enforced with a forest of speed cameras and a helicopter!!!! However I was not too worried as we tended to drive slowly anyway and take in the breathtaking scenery.

We hired a narrow boat for the day whilst we were there and we found it really relaxing. Imagine spending the day at 4 miles an hour. Ha! A real change of pace! I wonder how fast I could make the thing go if I fitted the ZRX motor in the boat :-)

However, it did get me thinking that I would not mind having a boat so in my usual cavalier fashion I bought one! I've put up a site here www.reb151.fsnet.co.uk go and have a look if you are interested.
